I had painted at this location before... early in the spring and found that the amount of green in the landscape made it hard to create a well-balanced painting. This time, I was determined to find colors other than green for counterpoints. I looked and saw warm browns, sky blue, dusty rose and bits of tan. I used these colors, together with diagonal lines to "walk" the viewer through my landscape. I felt that I met the challenge of adding a greater variety of color to the painting.
