I had the opportunity to paint in a local community garden. In September the crops were bountiful; the tomatoes, squash and cucumbers were ripe for picking, the cosmos in bloom, the fruit trees hanging with fruit. I liked this lonely sunflower, its head nodding gently, petals almost spent, but still beautiful.
