I had been to this park the previous autumn to paint the cattails. This year, the cattails were not very pretty. Each plein air outing is like a scouting trip for jewels or treasures that will translate to the canvas. On this morning I loved how the few remaining leaves on the trees still held their color, greens and yellows, they sparkled like gem stones in the sun. They caught my eye, and begged to be painted.
